Aligning Your Vision and Values
This morning, Jeff and I attended CommuniTech’s Titan Breakfast meeting with keynote speaker, Mate Pgrin, the President and CEO of Avvasi. His audience at this breakfast was seasoned CIO and Senior Leaders in Tech companies as well as some tech start up companies.

He was speaking to us as leaders and sharing his experiences as a leader in his domain. Additionally he was sharing with the start ups some of the key learnings he has had along the way. A few of his messages resonated with me but the one that landed most was:
When you take the time to understand the context of your business, it’s easier to hire people that fit that context… When there is a shared goal, there is more energy.
This was his final note to his audience and the moment when he spoke most passionately. He talked about linking the teams goals to the corporate goals. He let the audience know that when the team shares the same vision and the same values (my words now, not his!), that there is energy and a lot more work gets accomplished in a shorter time frame.
What can I say?? Yay for Mate at Avvasi! He gets it. He has experienced it. He knows full well the power of alignment. For those of you who read me on twitter or have worked with Axletree, you know our passion is alignment. That’s what we do. Listen and learn from the Mate’s of the world. When you take the time to be strategic in engaging your stakeholders (staff and customers), aligning your visions, values and goals, you WILL be much more successful.
Do you know the purpose of your organization? Does your team know? Can you articulate the strategic reason your team exists? Does your team’s vision align with your organization’s vision? If you can’t answer yes with confidence, you know who to call.
